Thanksgiving

On this Thanksgiving Day, the turkey in the oven, the house still quiet, I give thanks to God for all the blessing He has given me. “In all things give thanks,” Paul says, and it’s not just that God wants our accolades. It’s that He knows that a grateful heart is a happy heart. Giving thanks takes our eyes off our troubles and puts them on our blessings–and that makes for a much better attitude.

I believe it was on breastcancer.org that someone wrote, “I may have cancer, but cancer doesn’t have me.” No matter what my circumstances–and mine really aren’t bad at all compared to many–God is in control, and I am blessed.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it today, and a blessed day to all, no matter where you live or what holidays you celebrate!

About susanmaas

I grew up in the green state of Oregon, coming to love the birds, flowers, and other wild things of the woods. Our family homeschooled for sixteen years, spending wonderful vacations at the beach or camping in the western United States and British Columbia. For most of my adult life, I have been a part-time writer, creating personal experience stories, homeschooling articles, devotionals, Sunday school curriculum, and children's stories and books. I enjoy looking for signs of the eternal in nature and the small, everything events in our lives.

your resent tests. You honor God wherever you are, on the mountain top
